so, what is super 8?
Super 8 is a vintage motion picture film format originally created in the 1960s. It uses actual 8mm film inside a small handheld camera to record video, rather than digital sensors like modern cameras.
When filming, the Super 8 camera exposes light directly onto physical film as it moves through the camera frame by frame. Each roll of film has a limited recording time, and once it’s used, it must be developed in a lab before it can be viewed.
After filming, the film is sent off for processing where it is developed, scanned, and turned into a digital video file that you can watch and share.
Because it is real film, Super 8 has a soft, nostalgic look with natural grain, light leaks, and subtle imperfections that digital video can’t fully replicate. It feels less like a polished video and more like a memory. That's why I love it :)
